# First Mile > A newcomer check for social run clubs. Paste the club's public post (what a first-timer reads) and the organiser's own notes on how the night really goes. The page draws the night as a transit line of eight stations - find us, arrive, welcome, pace groups, route, regroup, after, next week - each found, thin or missing with the sentences behind it, reads every pace, distance and the start time, draws the pace groups as tracks (with a buffer stop when nothing makes the club regroup) and flags where newcomers get lost or dropped. A metered walk marks each station smooth, friction or broken through a newcomer's eyes with one fix each and a ready / patch / rebuild verdict; a second metered run writes the four first-run messages and holds them when the night has a blocker. https://first-mile.skillsafe.ai/ ## What it does - Free, in the browser (linekit.js, map.js): station readings are keyword matches over the post and the notes. Found needs the station's key element (an exact meeting point and a clock time; someone named or described to greet first-timers; a pace or a walk-run group; a distance and a route; a sweeper, regroup point or no-drop promise; something after the run; a way to hear about next week). A station answered only in the organiser's notes is thin - a newcomer never sees the notes. - Numbers: paces as min:sec per km or per mile ("6:45-7:15/km", "8-9 min miles", "sub-5"), converted to per km; distances ("5k", "3 miles"); clock times ("18:30", "7pm"). The slowest group quicker than 7:00/km with no walk-run option is a fast floor. - Flags. Blockers (rebuild): no exact meeting point, no start time, a club that says it will not wait ("keep up", "we don't wait"), no regroup with a fast floor or no paces. Gaps (patch): a fast floor, "all levels welcome" next to a fast floor, one distance over 6 km, a start likely in the dark (17:00 or later, or before 07:30, October to March - an estimate) with no word on lights, no named welcome, a pub-only after, nothing after, no way to hear about next week, nothing on bags or toilets, answers only in the notes. - Metered task `walk`: all eight stations `{id, status, says, newcomer, fix}` (smooth / friction / broken; `says` an exact quote), the host's first twenty minutes, post-versus-night gaps, organiser notes, a title, a summary and a ready / patch / rebuild verdict. - Metered task `arc`: four messages `{send, when, subject, body, covers}` - confirm, know before you go, on the day (300 characters at most), after the first run - for a group chat or email, with [placeholders] for anything the post and notes do not say, and a send / hold status with the fixes to make first. It reads the walk's fixes when the walk was run. - The page holds both replies to the night: every station once and in order, quotes found as written, no smooth station the page found nothing for, blockers marked broken, verdicts against the page's flags; and no clock time, pace, distance or link in a message that the post and notes do not contain. ## Limits - The page does not know the club's park, route, weather, sunset or people; station readings are keyword matches and the dark-start rule is an estimate for the northern half of the world. - Exports: Markdown (the line, the walk and the messages), a stations CSV for an organisers' meeting, the line as SVG, and the four messages as plain text. ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skills @samber/event-attendee-experience (the attendee journey from the door, first-timer orientation, a walkthrough audit one row per touchpoint): https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@samber/event-attendee-experience and @samber/event-attendee-email-sequences (a short, fixed arc of attendee messages, each with one job, never inventing what the day looks like): https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@samber/event-attendee-email-sequences - Why now: social run clubs are the meetup of 2026 - a 2026 community report counts club creation up 3.5x, driven by Gen Z (https://runninglookout.com/news/strava-2026-community-report-running-clubs-3-5x-growth-gen-z/), and run clubs are being called the new nightclubs (https://blog.bigbasket.com/2026/09/08/why-run-clubs-are-the-new-nightclubs-the-rise-of-social-fitness-in-2026/). - API: https://first-mile.skillsafe.ai/api.html
