First Mile

Run club, every week

Would a first-timer come back next week?

Most people try a run club once. They could not find the start, nobody said hello, the slowest group was too fast, or they ran the last mile alone. Paste your club's post and how the night really goes: the page draws the night as one line of eight stations and flags where newcomers get lost or dropped. Ask for the walk to see each station through a newcomer's eyes, then for the four messages that tell them what the night really holds.

Try a club:

What a newcomer actually reads - your page, pinned post or chat welcome. Paste it as written.

2 The night

Honest notes find the gaps between what the post promises and what happens - who greets, who sweeps, who waits.

3 The line

How the page reads the night
    • Each station is a set of keyword matches over the post and the notes - found when its key element is there (an exact meeting point and a time; someone named or described to greet; a pace or walk-run group; a distance and a route; a sweeper, regroup or no-drop promise), thin when only part is, missing when nothing is.
    • Paces are read as min:sec per km or per mile ("6:45-7:15/km", "10 min miles", "sub-5"); miles are converted to km. A slowest group quicker than 7:00/km with no walk-run option is a fast floor.
    • Blockers (rebuild): no exact meeting point, no start time, a club that says it will not wait, or no regroup with a fast floor or no paces at all. Gaps (patch): everything else flagged, or any station not found. Ready: all eight found, nothing flagged.
    • Dark = a start from 17:00 or before 07:30 between October and March - an estimate for the northern half of the world; it depends on where you are.
    • The page does not know your park, your route or your people. Treat a reading as a prompt to check, not a measurement.

The to-do list is plain text, one line per thing to fix - paste it into your notes or the organisers' chat. The .csv lists the eight stations with the page's reading, the sentences behind it, and the walk's status, newcomer view and fix - a checklist for the next organisers' meeting. The .txt holds the four messages ready to paste.
